Why Grindelwald?
The quaint town of Grindelwald is located at the end of a stunning Alpine valley. The farm is nestled on a hillside above town and at the base of the world famous north face of the Eiger Mountain!
This is an immersive experience of Swiss culture- you will be introduced to an authentic and one of a kind, life changing experience of how life is on a working farm...with accommodations you likely have not experienced before and memories that will last a lifetime!
** The accommodations will be in a Schlaf im Stroh which literally translated means " sleeping in the straw** In english, it would be our form of "glamping".
If you have allergies to hay, or would prefer more traditional accommodations please send us an email @ support@staysunnygoods.com.
The Wyss family has been in the dairy farm business in Grindelwald for centuries. Their work is truly an art in and of itself. You will get the chance to experience the family's process in making their cheese, and butter which are all made on their farm. Our breakfast in the morning will be the freshest farm breakfast you've ever had! The grandparents, parents, and kids are all active on the farm, so it is a true family biz!
Why Schlaf im Stoh?
Schlaf im stroh began in Switzerland as a way for travelers to help see different parts of the country by doing farm work in exchange for a nights stay. Present day, it has become a part of Swiss culture as a way for non-farm life folks to get a taste of the county life.
At the Wyss family farm, they have built a new guest loft above where the cows typically reside. There are two, very large bunk bays where you will lay down a blanket (provided) and sleep in a sleeping bag (not provided). We are in an alpine environment and the loft has heat to keep the temperature comfortable.
This trip is recommended for adventurous families who would like to embark on a magical Swiss weekend of culture, hiking, and learning how to be creative together!
