These do sit higher on the waist and offer a more " compression feel. I personally wear a large ( I wear a Large, 5'6 180 lbs) if I want them a little looser I get an XL , but if you do want them to stay in place I would go with your normal size, just know they will take a few wears to break in!
Also, the fabric is not scratch resistant! Please do not sit on surfaces like concrete as it will snag the fabric!
